Phil Spector- Wall of Frowned

Phil Spector's going to prison and LA is a safer place because of it. In true form of brilliance equals insanity this man has mystified as much as he has terrorized the public since the 1960's. There are lots of stories to be told (forcing The Ramones to play at gun point, hijacking Lennon tapes, paying for child support with nickels) but I usually get tired of these stories about half way through and I assume most of you have heard me tell them already.
So instead of rattling off long bizarre stories about a maniac (here's a good one) I m going to post some of Phil's more obscure tracks that didnt make it on to the box-set because tracks like Zipp-A-Dee-Doo-Dah and the Ike/Turner version of River Deep Mountain High were too "culturally" important to bump.

Nilsson Cher- A Love Like Yours.mp3

After I put this on my i-pod I had a an "oh shit" revelation. I now have Cher on my i-pod, if someone scrolls through my artist section they'll fairly quickly see the short and unmissable name that is Cher looking back at them. Like most of you I associate Cher with homosexuals, navy battleships, and Time Life compilation commercials. I cringe when I see her face and if I hear "I Got You Babe" one more time at karaoke I'll... file a complaint or something. All of these factors make these two songs just that more amazing. Who knew Cher had an almost twangy soulful sounding voice and who knew Harry Nilsson would have anything to do with a pop "diva" like Cher.

Home of the brave was actually produced by Jerry Riopelle, a protégé of Phil Spector's. It was released on the Phi-Dan label, a subsidiary of Philles.
